Iranian, Dutch Deputy FMs Discuss Bilateral Ties, Consular Issues

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Baqeri and his Dutch counterpart Marcel de Vink held talks on bilateral ties and consular issues.

During the phone conversation, Baqeri said Iran and the Netherlands have various fields of interaction and cooperation, and despite some differences, they consider dialogue and consultation as the logical way to secure the interests of the two parties.

With its rational behavior, he said, the Islamic Republic has protected the foundations of bilateral relations, and this is what Iran expects from the other side as well.

He also welcomed the continuation and increase of political consultations between the officials of the two countries.

Baqeri also invited the Dutch diplomat to visit Tehran, the website of Iran’s Foreign Ministry reported.

For his part, de Vink said that the relations between Iran and the Netherlands are rooted in the long-standing tradition between the two countries, and the two sides should continue their contacts and discussions based on mutual respect and understanding.

He expressed willingness for continued contacts between the two parties, and called for topics of common interest to be placed on the agenda of these contacts.

The Dutch official expressed hope to meet and talk with his Iranian counterpart at the earliest time.
