Iranian, Pakistani Atomic Energy Officials Discuss Bilateral Relations in Vienna

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Mohammad Eslami, held talks with the head of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission Raja Ali Raza Anwar in Vienna on bilateral ties.

During the meeting, which was also attended by the Iranian envoy to Austria, Eslami stressed the importance of fostering bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between the two nations in various aspects of peaceful nuclear technology.

The AEOI chief traveled to Vienna to participate in the annual meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Regarding the termination of licenses for some of the agency’s inspectors in Iran, Islami told Al Jazeera on Wednesday that 120 agency inspectors are now working in Iran and have Tehran’s trust, adding that Iran has the right to object to the acts of a few of them if it so desires.

“Our meeting with (IAEA chief) Mr. Grossi was cordial and conducted in a peaceful atmosphere,” Islami said of his recent meeting with Rafael Grossi in Vienna, adding that Iran’s collaboration with the agency is of high importance.

He also discussed the scope of the agency’s inspections in Iran, stating that the country is subject to more than ten times the level of agency oversight as other countries.
