Iran’s Foreign Minister Offers Condolences to Iraq over Fire Tragedy

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian conveyed his condolences to the government and people of Iraq following the tragic loss of over 100 lives in a wedding fire.

In a message addressed to his Iraqi counterpart, Amirabdollahian extended heartfelt condolences to the people and government of Iraq in the wake of the devastating fire that claimed the lives of Iraqi citizens.

The Iranian top diplomat declared the country’s preparedness to provide assistance to the victims and the injured through its relief and medical facilities.

The text of Amirabdollahian’s message reads as follows:

“Dear brother, Mr. Fuad Hussein, Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq,

Greetings,

With deep sorrow and sympathy, I extend my heartfelt condolences to you, the government, the people, and the esteemed religious authorities of our neighboring country, Iraq, particularly to the bereaved families, on the tragic incident of the fire that occurred last night in the Hamdaniya area of Ninawa Province, resulting in the loss of many beloved Iraqi brothers and sisters.

I pray to the Almighty and Al-Knowing God to shower His abundant mercy and forgiveness on the departed souls of this bitter and tragic incident. I also pray for the swift recovery of the injured and for patience and fortitude for the grieving families.

In conclusion, I would like to remind you that the relief and medical centers of the Islamic Republic of Iran are ready to provide assistance to the victims and the injured in this incident.”

According to Iraqi sources, a fire broke out in a wedding hall in Al-Hamdaniya District, located in the Nineveh Province north of Iran, reportedly caused by fireworks, which resulted in 120 fatalities and 200 injuries.

The fire led to the collapse of the hall’s roof, trapping a crowd inside, transforming a joyous occasion into a nationwide mourning event. It is reported that both the groom and the bride lost their lives in this incident.
